The castle Kergoz ( French Manoir de Kergoz ) is the ruin of a low castle in Guilvinec in the Finistère department in Brittany . The ruin has been classified as a Monument historique since 1932 .
description
Parts of the southern and eastern enclosing walls and the inner buildings have been preserved from the castle complex built by the Lords of Kergoz in the 16th century. The ruin is now in the middle of the village on a school site. A residential building inside has a beautiful portal in the style of flamboyant Gothic . A pigeon tower rises above the eastern archway , which is also dated to the 16th century. The fortifications visible from the sea were intended to symbolize resistance and deter looters. The facility can only be viewed from the outside. The St-Trémeur chapel was also built by the lords of the castle outside the complex .
