The Trappistinnenkloster Klaarland since 1970 a monastery of Trappist nuns in Bocholt , Limburg in Belgium .

history

The Belgian Trappist Abbey of Nazareth , with reform intentions , founded a nunnery in Kiewit, a district of Hasselt , in 1970 , which moved to its final location in Lozen, a district of Bocholt, in 1975, where it is located directly on the border with the Netherlands (towards Weert ) ( Vosheuvelstraat , 39). There it was called "Our Lady of Klaarland" (based on the former Dutch monastery Klaarkamp , klaar = clear, bright). In 1981 the monastery was elevated to a priory . The rapid growth of the convent made extensive construction work necessary between 2004 and 2011. The Trappist statistics showed seventeen monastery members in 2018.
