The place is located in the southwest of Brittany near the Atlantic coast near Douarnenez . Quimper is 19 kilometers east, Brest 42 kilometers north and Paris around 500 kilometers east (as the crow flies ). Guiler-sur-Goyen is, as the name suggests, in the valley of the Goyen river .
