Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage chapel

Plogoff ( Breton Plougoñ ) is a French commune with 1229 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Finistère department in the Brittany region in the westernmost tip of France.

geography

The municipality is located on the Cap Sizun peninsula with a large bird sanctuary and is still today a symbol of the fight against nuclear power plants . The facility planned there at the end of the 1970s was prevented by long-lasting, not only non-violent resistance from the local population with national and international support. The anti-nuclear motive was superimposed by anti-centralist tendencies aimed at regaining Breton identity (language, culture, partial political autonomy).
