The canton of Douarnenez (Breton canton Douarnenez ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement of Quimper , in the Département Finistère and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Douarnenez .
history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, six municipalities belonged to the canton of Douarnenez. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 17. Of the previous 6 communes in the old canton of Douarnenez, 2 communes moved to other cantons. But all 12 municipalities of the previous canton of Pont-Croix and 1 of the 14 municipalities of the previous canton of Châteaulin were added.
