The canton Briec (Breton Canton Brieg ) is a French canton in the arrondissement Chateaulin and Quimper in Finistère department in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Briec .
history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, five municipalities belonged to the canton of Briec. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to 18. In addition to the previous municipalities of the old canton of Briec, 7 of the 10 municipalities of the previous canton of Châteauneuf-du-Faou and 6 of the 10 municipalities of the previous canton of Pleyben were added.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Raymond Messager / Cécile Nay (both Divers Droite) won against Thomas Ferec / Hélène Lollier (both PS ) with a share of the vote of 53.39% (turnout: 53.66%).
