The municipality is located in western Brittany , a good two kilometers east of the Bay of Douarnenez on the Atlantic in the Cornouaille region , a few kilometers east of Douarnenez , about 16 kilometers northwest of Quimper , 17 kilometers southwest of Châteaulin , and 36 kilometers south-southeast of Brest (as the crow flies ).
