Plogonnec ( Plogoneg ) is a French commune in the Finistère department in Brittany with 3156 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the arrondissement of Quimper and the canton of Quimper-1 .
geography
The municipality is located in western Brittany , a good eight kilometers southeast of the Atlantic ( Bay of Douarnenez ) in the Cornouaille region . Locronan, which is important for tourism , is three kilometers north, Douarnenez ten kilometers west, Quimper eleven kilometers southeast, and Brest around 40 kilometers north-northwest (distances slightly rounded as the crow flies ).
traffic
The nearest exits on the motorway-like expressway E 60 ( Nantes -Brest) are at Quimper and Châteaulin . Quimper station is a TGV Atlantique station and regional station on the TER Bretagne network . The Quimper-Douarnenez railway line, which passes a few kilometers south of the village and had a station here, was closed for passenger traffic as early as 1974.
The next regional airports are the Quimper-Cornouaille airport and Brest airport .
