Dulce Chacón
Dulce Chacón (born June 3, 1954 in Zafra , Badajoz province , † December 3, 2003 in Madrid ) was a Spanish writer.
Although she came from a conservative family, she later followed more leftist ideals. So she tried to bring the archives of the executions under General Franco into the public consciousness and stood against the Iraq war.
Her father died when she was twelve years old. The mother moved the family to Madrid, and Dulce Chacón attended boarding school with her twin sister. In order to escape these changes in her life, she began writing poetry. During her youth she read Paul Celan , Rainer Maria Rilke , César Vallejo and José Angel Valente ; these authors had a profound influence on their personal style.
In October 2003, Dulce Chacón was diagnosed with advanced cancer. She died on December 3 of the same year, leaving behind her husband and two sons.
