Duncan Hallas
Duncan Hallas (born December 23, 1925 in Manchester , † September 19, 2002 ) was a British Trotskyist and political activist.
Life
At a young age, Hallas joined the Workers' International League and the Revolutionary Communist Party . The working class child entered the army in 1943 and quickly rose in the team grades. Hallas witnessed the mutiny of the Greek soldiers in Egypt and took part in the protest two years later.
In 1951 he co-founded the Socialist Workers Review Group and the successor organization International Socialists . In 1954/55 he took part in the protests of the National Union of Teachers and stood up for the movement all his life. Since that time he has published a number of books and essays (mostly in the party journal Socialist Worker ) on current topics and Marxist theory, which has given him a broad media audience. Hallas participated in the Socialist Workers Party until 1995 .
