Duplex stick battery 2R10

Duplex , stick battery , 2R10 and 3010 are common names for a standardized, previously widespread size of batteries .

construction

The design is a cylinder with a diameter of approx. 21.5 mm and a height of approx. 74 mm. Internally, two battery cells of 1.5 V each are electrically connected in series , which results in an open circuit voltage of 3 V.

The two internal battery cells are round cells of type R10 or similar to R10 (see list of all standard sizes for round cells according to IEC-60086 to 1990 ). Hence the name 2R10 for the battery. The lack of commercial availability of R10 batteries has made 2R10 batteries popular as a source for R10 cells.

Electrochemical system

The battery cells are manufactured as zinc-carbon primary cells. Are commonly available capacity of 0.8  Ah to 1.5 Ah.

application

Duplex batteries are particularly suitable for devices with low to medium energy requirements. They are mainly used in flashlights, trowels , experiment kits , lighting for dollhouses and in agriculture in electric fence devices. They were also popular for a time in electric lantern sticks for St. Martin's lanterns .
