Through Flames Fortunately is a Danish drama in three acts from 1915.
action
The young Elsa, daughter of the innkeeper, is in love with the penniless but hardworking forest worker Anders. However, she is also courted by the rich forest owner Fuhrmann and Elsa's parents are flattered by the prospect of a good match for their daughter. A gypsy recognizes the love between Elsa and Anders and tells Anders that he will find happiness through flames. She also knows that there will be blood on Fuhrmann's hands, but hides this prophecy from him - out of revenge, because he has behaved unkind to her child.
The Waldschenkenwirt has a secret passion: he goes poaching regularly, which both his family and Anders reject. During one of his nocturnal hunts he is hit by a stray bullet from the wagoner's weapon and dies. Anders has Fuhrmann suspected of being the perpetrator, but cannot prove his guilt. Only the gypsy gives him evidence of Fuhrmann's guilt, which Anders does not use against Fuhrmann. Meanwhile, he continues to woo Else, and soon her mother wants to force her to marry Fuhrmann. Suddenly a thunderstorm breaks out and thunder and lightning fall over the village. Numerous houses go up in flames. Anders sees the village in flames from his poor hut and rushes to help, his horse going through and falling from a bridge into the river. It is otherwise possible to save Elsa and her mother from the flames. He also tries to bring the carter to safety, but the forest owner dies in the flames. Anders refrains from telling Elsa and her mother about Fuhrmann's guilt for the death of the innkeeper. Elsa's mother, in turn, asks Anders for forgiveness for her behavior and agrees to Else and Anders marrying.
