Loyal to the Game ( English for: the game faithful ) is the ninth studio album of American rapper Tupac Shakur . It is the artist's fourth posthumously released album and was released on December 12, 2004 on the Interscope and Amaru labels .

Production and samples

With 13 songs ( Soldier Like Me , The uppercut , Out On Bail , Ghetto Gospel , Black Cotton , Loyal to the Game , Thugs Get Lonely Too , NIGGA , Who Do You Love? , Crooked Nigga Too , Do not You Trust Me? , Hennessey , Thug 4 Life ) most of the songs were produced by the American rapper Eminem , who also acted as executive producer alongside Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur , in collaboration with Luis Resto . Only the remixes for the tracks Po Nigga Blues ( Scott Storch ), Hennessey (Red Spyda), Crooked Nigga Too ( Raphael Saadiq ) and Loyal to the Game ( DJ Quik ) come from other producers.

Three songs on the album contain samples of tracks by other artists. So when will Ghetto Gospel the piece Indian Sunset by Elton John sampled. Don't you trust me? contains elements of the song Do You Have a Little Time by Dido and the track NIGGA samples (Don't Worry) If There's a Hell Below, We're All Going to Go by Curtis Mayfield .

Cover design

The album cover shows Tupac Shakur with glasses and dressed in white, looking to the side. In the left part there is a cross and the lettering 2Pac in brown. The title Loyal to the Game is in the middle of the picture and is also brown. The background is completely white.

The rappers Kastro and Young Noble of the group Outlawz are also represented on the latter . Furthermore, Young Noble supports Tupac next to EDI Mean on the song The Uppercut . The latter has another guest appearance in addition to Sleepy Brown in Hennessey (Red Spyda Remix) . In the choruses of the songs Thugs Get Lonely Too and Don't You Trust Me? you can hear Nate Dogg or the British singer Dido . The British artist Elton John appears on Ghetto Gospel , while the rap group G Unit has a guest contribution to the song Loyal to the Game . The rapper Jadakiss can be heard on the track NIGGA and Obie Trice supports Tupac on the track Hennessey . Po Nigga Blues (Scott Storch Remix) also features a guest appearance by Ron Isley and Loyal to the Game (DJ Quik Remix) is a collaboration with Big Syke and DJ Quik .

Loyal to the Game reached number 50 in the German album charts and stayed in the top 100 for twelve weeks. In the USA the album rose to the top position and stayed in the charts for 23 weeks.

The songs Thugs Get Lonely Too and Ghetto Gospel were released as singles.

Sales figures and awards

For more than one million copies sold, Loyal to the Game was certified platinum in the United States . The album also received a gold record in the UK for over 100,000 units sold.
