Until the End of Time ( English for: to the end of time ) is the seventh studio album of American rapper Tupac Shakur . It is the artist's second posthumously released album and was released on March 27, 2001 via the Death Row Records , Interscope and Amaru Entertainment labels .

Production and samples

Suge Knight and Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur were executive producers on the album . With 16 songs, a large part of the album was produced by the music producer Johnny "J" . Three instrumentals were created by QDIII . There were also 2pac himself as well as the Trackmasters , DJ Quik , Crooked I , Cold 187um , Ant Banks , LT Hutton, Mike Mosley, Jim Gittum, Darren Vegas, Big Simon Says, Hurt-M-Badd, Kurt Couthan and SR. Shakur involved in the production of individual songs.

Four tracks on the album contain samples from pieces by other artists. Ballad of a Dead Soulja samples the track Little Child Running Wild by Curtis Mayfield and Letter 2 My Unborn contains elements from Liberian Girl by Michael Jackson . Until the End of Time includes a sample of the song Broken Wings by Mr. Mister , while When Thugz Cry samples the song Fragile by Sting .

Cover design

The album cover shows a drawn picture of Tupac with a bare chest. As seen from the observer, he directs his gaze to the right. The background is kept in brown tones. At the bottom of the picture are the white lettering 2Pac and Until the End of Time .

Until the End of Time entered the German charts on April 16, 2001 at number 28 and four weeks later reached the highest position at number 23. Overall, the album stayed in the top 100 for 21 weeks. In the United States, the album debuted at number 1 and stayed in the top 200 for 25 weeks.

As a singles title song were Until the End of Time (DE # 33, 14 wk.) And the song Letter 2 My Unborn decoupled (. DE # 76, 8 week).

For more than 2.2 million copies sold, Until the End of Time was awarded four times platinum in the United States , as double albums are rated twice there. The album also received a gold record in the UK for over 100,000 units sold.
