Johnny "J" Jackson (born August 28, 1969 in Ciudad Juarez , Mexico , † October 3, 2008 in Los Angeles , California ) was a Mexican- American hip-hop producer. Best known are his productions for the late rapper Tupac "2Pac" Amaru Shakur .

Life

In 1990 Johnny Jackson produced the single Knockin 'Bouts for Candyman's album Ain't No Shame in My Game . Both the single and the accompanying album went platinum and received awards from the RIAA .

From then on, Johnny Jackson worked with 2Pac. The first release was the song Pour Out a Little Liquor for the Above the Rim - Soundtrack . Another song landed on the 2Pac album Me Against the World . After 2Pac was jailed for sexual harassment in 1995, Johnny J used the time to record his own rap album I Gotta Be Me . Both the album and the singles could not achieve chart placement.

Together with 2Pac, Johnny Jackson planned his own record company called "NonStop productions". However, with the death of “2Pacs” in 1996, the end of his successful career came as he was still very unknown outside of the songs that were written for Death Row / 2Pac. Nevertheless he worked on posthumous 2Pac albums like Until the End of Time , R U still down? or Better Dayz and was awarded multiple platinum for it. Johnny "J" committed on 3 October 2008 in the prison Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles alleged suicide .
