The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory is a music album by Tupac Shakur released under his stage name Makaveli .

The album was released on November 5, 1996 on Death Row Records and is assigned to the genre rap , more specifically the Westcoast rap . It is the last of Tupac Shakur's albums to be completed during his lifetime. It was released two months after his death and has sold around 5.5 million times worldwide.

background

Tupac changed his stage name for this album from 2Pac to Makaveli , after the Italian philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli , whose works, including The Prince , Tupac had studied in prison. The title of the album The 7 Day Theory is derived from the entire production time, which is said to have only lasted seven days. Initially the album was supposed to be called The 3 Day Theory , as the recording of the lyrics only took three days. However, the entire production took seven days, after which the title was changed to The 7 Day Theory .

The album cover caused quite a stir because it shows a crucified Tupac. It is intended to symbolize his "crucifixion" through the media, but in no way to represent an expression of disrespect for Jesus Christ. The album also instigated conspiracy theories that Shakur was still alive and faked his death.

Verbal arguments

Before his death, Tupac had numerous beefs with rap colleagues from the East Coast that he settled with on this album, including Nas , who felt increasingly misunderstood. Nas saw himself as the only true King of New York and therefore attacked Tupac in various songs. In contrast to other verbal arguments, it was important to him in this case to clear up the differences, as he saw something like a like-minded person in Pac. For this reason, shortly before Tupac's murder, the two spoke out and settled their argument. In addition, Tupac agreed, should Nas not respond to the verbal attacks on the upcoming album, never to use Nas again. In addition, both thought about a collaboration, which it did not come about because of Tupac's death. The album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was released shortly afterwards with the verbal attacks on Nas.
