Still I Rise is a studio album by the American rapper Tupac Shakur , which he recorded with his rap group Outlawz . It was released posthumously , more than three years after his death, and was released on December 13, 1999 on the Interscope Records label .

Production and samples

Many different music producers were involved in the production of the album . Depending three instrumentals come from Johnny "J" and Darryl "Big D" Harper while QDIII and Tupac themselves each produced two beats. In addition, were Daz Dillinger , Kurupt , SoulShock & Karlin, L rock Ya, Damon Thomas, Tony Pizarro, Quimmy Quim and Reef involved in the production of individual songs.

Four songs on the album contain samples from pieces by other artists. As the World Turns samples the track Sounds Like a Love Song by Bobby Glenn, while Teardrops and Closed Caskets contains elements of the track Love Ballad by LTD. The song U Can Be Touched contains a sample from Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russell, and High Speed samples the song Genius of Love by the group Tom Tom Club .

The album cover shows four members of the Outlawz sitting in a black cabriolet . In the upper part of the picture there is the large gray lettering 2Pac + Outlawz and the title Still I Rise is in the lower right corner of the picture in white or red.

Guest Posts

In addition to Tupac and the Outlawz, other artists appear on six songs on the album. The singer Val Young can be heard on the songs Black Jesuz , The Good Die Young and Teardrops and Closed Caskets , with the singer and rapper Nate Dogg also making a guest appearance in the latter . Still I Rise entered the German charts at number 31 on January 10, 2000 and reached the highest position two weeks later at number 24. Overall, the album was able to stay in the top 100 for twelve weeks. In the United States, the album debuted at number 6 and stayed in the top 200 for 20 weeks.
