occupation

Holiday am Wörthersee is a German-Austrian mix-up comedy by Hans Schott-Schöbinger from 1956 in Agfacolor. The film was distributed in Austria, Germany and northern France. The first distribution in Germany was Defir (Deutscher Filmring), in Austria Sascha-Film .

action

The hotel waiter Fritz Groß quits his job believing that he and his aunts have made a large inheritance at Lake Wörthersee . There he is mistaken for the American hotel king, Gross, whose daughter, Marion, Fritz falls in love with without knowing the connections. The great inheritance in Seewinkel, however, turns out to be a worthless, damp meadow by the lake.

In the opinion of having a rich investor in front of him in Fritz Groß, the clever Schnepfenwirt forges grandiose tourism plans. The hotel king Gross senses competition and buys Fritz his meadow for a fortune.

production

The original script by the Graz authors Breisach and Trummer-Klimek was revised by Wolfgang Schnitzler shortly before shooting began.

The shooting took place in the early summer of 1956 around the Wörthersee, mainly in Pörtschach and Klagenfurt . Sepp Rothauer arranged the equipment . Karl Loubé wrote the accompanying music and a few hits, including Holi-Holiday , with texts by Hans Haller . The film was dubbed in Vienna and the music was sung by the Hansen Quartet .

For the interior shots, the premises in Pörtschach were converted into a makeshift studio.

The main committee of the FSK decreed that some scenes which could be perceived as offensive “in this relaxed form” should be cut. So the protagonist kisses a woman in the crook of her arm, whereupon she says “It tickles”. Although this is not exactly obscene from an erotic point of view, it is due to the fact that adults should not appear in this form in a public bar.

The premiere took place on July 26, 1956 in the Lichtburg Essen . The film has not been shown or broadcast publicly since it went to theaters in the 1950s.

criticism

"Klamauk made in Austria" was the summary of Paimann's film lists , "beautiful outdoor shots in pleasant color photography figure as an asset".
