Carinthia cinematography

The Carinthia-Filmkunst GmbH was a film production and distribution company in Carinthia , based in Klagenfurt .

history

It was founded in 1952 by Hans-Gustl Kernmayr , Hans Schott-Schöbinger and Josef Friedrich Perkonig . Kernmayr left the company shortly after it was founded.

Carinthia-Filmkunst primarily produced cultural films for the opening program, which deal with the Carinthian landscape, cultural assets and customs. The films were mainly photographed by Hans Gessl , but also partly by Hans Theyer and Paul Bruck . 14 cultural films were made between 1953 and 1959, thirteen of which have been preserved. Only the industrial film "Refined Wood" must currently be considered lost. The majority of the cultural films were shot in black and white.

The cultural films were made from manuscripts and under the direction of Josef Friedrich Perkonig. Ten of these cultural films were released on DVD.

After Perkönig's death in 1959, no more cultural film productions were started.

Carinthia-Filmkunst also produced two feature films in co-production with German film companies ( Holiday am Wörthersee , The Pastor with the Jazz Trumpet ), which were mediocre business successes. The film The Pastor with the Jazz Trumpet was the last production of this film company.
