Cotia is a city with about 244,694 inhabitants (2018 estimate) west of São Paulo in the state of the same name in southeastern Brazil .
history
Cotia was settled in 1580, before the Bandeiras expeditions began. On April 2, 1856, the city received its official foundation under the name Vila da Cutia .
economy
The world's second largest fragrance manufacturer, Firmenich , has a laboratory here.
Sports
Cotia has achieved international fame primarily through the Centro de Treinamento, a boarding school that the Brazilian soccer club FC São Paulo runs here. Young football talents who are looking for scouts for the club all over Brazil receive professional training and, in parallel, a school education and salary.
