Dyseriocrania subpurpurella is a European small butterfly from the family of the common moth (Eriocraniidae).

features

The butterflies have a wingspan of 9-14 mm. Their metallic gold-colored wings are covered with purple or blue fine spots and lines.

The dragon moth species occurs in the western Palearctic . It is widespread in Europe. The species is also represented in the British Isles.

Way of life

The moths fly early in the year. Your flight time lasts from April to May. The moths are usually diurnal, but can also be found on light traps at night. The caterpillar of Dyseriocrania subpurpurella mines in the leaves of oak ( Quercus ), forming characteristic spots on the leaf surface.
