E. & G. Spitzer

E. & G. Spitzer , sometimes also spelled G. & E. Spitzer , was a Viennese ladies' fashion and hat shop .

history

The founder Ernestine Spitzer geb. Schlesinger (1836? –13 March 1897) entered the Vienna commercial register for sole proprietorships as a Pfaidlerin on February 20, 1869 . Her husband Gustav Spitzer († 1909) joined the company as an open partner a few months later in July . Accordingly, in 1871 the name of the company was changed to “E. & G. Spitzer ”changed. The shop was located at Kärntner Ring 12, where the owner's apartment was also located.

In 1874, the Spitzer submitted their request for the award of the court title to the Obersthofmeisteramt . Their request was granted and they were given the title of purveyor to the court for fashion and white goods.

The company also took part in exhibitions. For example, for the Viennese culinary art exhibition in January 1898, the sample costumes in the style of 1848 were designed and made for the women of the committee.

From January 5th the daughter Ida Rosenberg born. Spitzer († 1927) and his son-in-law Leopold Rosenberg († March 21, 1901) with the right of representation, in 1896 the son Wilhelm Spitzer was registered without legal authority. He left the business as a partner on August 28, 1900. After the death of Leopold Rosenberg, the widow Ida Rosenberg was given the right to represent the company independently. She later married a second time and was named Kuranda from 1907 onwards.

After the death of Gustav Spitzer in 1913, the business object in the commercial register was expanded to include women's clothing and the fashion shop from the former Pfaidler trade. The company survived the First World War . After Ida Kuranda's death, their children were Marie Pletz, b. Rosenberg and Walther Rosenberg the owners.

On October 3, 1930, the business was changed in the commercial register to the manufacture of linen goods and clothing-making, which was limited to women's and children's clothes. In December of that year, however, the company was dissolved and the company was liquidated.
