Emanuel Fogl

Emanuel Fogl (* around 1842 in Pest , Hungary ; † 23 August 1901 in Vienna ) was a Viennese laundry entrepreneur .

biography

Emanuel Fogl came to Vienna from Hungary and opened two shops there, first in 1864 the shop "Zum Erzherzog Carl" at Kärntner Straße 27 in the 1st district , later a second branch on Kärntner Ring , which was closed around 1868. His factory was located at Gumpendorfer Straße 41, where he employed around 60 women around 1868.

Fogl was able to elevate Austrian laundry products to a “labor” -capable export and trade item. He was awarded a silver medal at the exhibitions of 1867. His customers include Empress Karoline Auguste and Archduke Franz Karl of Austria , who are said to have bought his products for the Imperial and Royal Chamber at the exhibition in Salzburg. He was also supplier of uniforms of the officers and logged Leinwäschehändler and linen goods manufacturer.

Emanuel Fogl married Anne ("Ettel") Gall (* around 1845 in Lemberg ) in her hometown of May 5, 1867 according to the Jewish rite . They lived at Annagasse 18. They had a daughter and three sons who grew up according to the Jewish faith . The marriage was divorced in July 1895.

Fogl applied for the title of imperial court purveyor on March 24, 1868 and was allowed to use it a short time later.
