An EB team is a team that is involved in current electronic reporting (EB). EB teams are used in all areas of television production, such as news, magazine articles, features, documentaries and reports.

Working method

The EB team usually consists of two people, the EB cameraman and the EB technician (also known as the EB assistant). Lighting technicians or other assistants are called in for extensive filming . An EB team works with an editor or a journalist . The editor or journalist discusses the content-related, editorially desired statements with the cameraman.

The cameraman is usually responsible for the team and distributes the tasks. His core competence lies in the selection of motifs and the design of the image. The EB technician (e.g. media designer for picture / sound) is responsible for the sound recordings, camera assistance, the filming material and for looking after the equipment.

The basic equipment consists of a portable electronic or digital camera recorder and tripod. The equipment also consists of lighting and sound recording devices. All devices are specially designed for mobile and harsh outdoor use. The equipment is expanded to include additional spotlights, microphones or a preview monitor, depending on the application.

history

The term EB team comes from the beginnings of electronic reporting (1980s), where a distinction was made between celluloid film material and the electronic recording process ( MAZ ). With this process, the film material no longer had to be laboriously developed and copied, but could be cut and sent straight away.
