The ECO class is a class of product tankers for the US market with a load capacity of around 49,000 tons. Since the ships are intended for the American domestic market, which is protected from international competition (“ Jones Act ” ships), they were built at the American NASSCO shipyard in San Diego .

history

In May 2013, American Petroleum Tankers (APT), a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan , ordered four ECO-class ships from General Dynamics NASSCO . In June 2014, American Petroleum Tankers ordered a fifth ship in the class. Three more ships have been ordered by SEA-Vista, a joint venture between SEACOR Holdings and Avista Capital Partners.

The ships were built from 2014 to 2017. The APT units of Intrepid Ship Management of Jacksonville, the SEA Vista ships Seabulk Tankers from Fort Lauderdale bereedert .

The design comes from DSEC .

The 13 cargo tanks have a volume of 52,475.5 m 3 , they can be filled with 50,154 m 3 when fully unloaded .

The ships are equipped with a slow-running two-stroke diesel engine from MAN (type: 6G50ME-B) with 7,700 kW output, which was built under license by the Korean manufacturer Doosan . The ship's propulsion system can be converted to run on LNG . Three generator sets are available for power generation, powered by duel fuel engines with an output of 1,240 kW.

The ships also meet the new requirements for ballast water treatment.
