EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup
The Beach Handball Champions Cup is the highest European Cup contest for Beach Handball - club teams . It is organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF).
history
In 2014 the Champions Cup in beach handball was held for the first time. The first title won the "Ekaterinodar" Krasnodar from Russia in the men and Skrim Kongsberg from Norway in the women.
The competition has been held annually since the beginning. From 2014 to 2017 the venue was Gran Canaria , Spain, and in 2018 Catania in Sicily, Italy.
mode
The tournament for women and men will be played on 4 consecutive days (3 days in 2014) at the same location and in the same mode. In principle, the champions of the national beach handball competitions are entitled to participate. The second and third placed can possibly move up.
2014 season
In the group stage with 2 groups of 5 teams each played a game against each other. The two best in the group reached the semi-finals. The teams behind them made places 5-10 in placement games. The last two teams in each group played a game for 9th place, the penultimate played for 7th place and the third from last played for 5th place. The winners of the semi-finals advanced to the final. The losers played a game for 3rd place. The winner of the final was the winner of the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup 2014.
2015-2016 seasons
In the group stage with 2 groups of 6 teams each played a game against each other. The four best groups in each group reached the quarter-finals. The teams behind them made places 9-12 among themselves in placement games. The last two teams in each group played a game for 11th place, the penultimate played for 9th place.
The winners of the quarter-finals advanced to the semi-finals. The losers played the participation in further placement games in cross games. The losers of these games played a game for 7th place and the winners for 5th place. The winners of the semifinals advanced to the final. The losers played a game for third place. The winner of the final was the winner of the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup.
2018 season
In the group phase with 4 groups of 4 teams each played a game against each other. The two best groups in each group reached the quarter-finals. The last two placed in each group played in a placement round in a knockout system from places 9-16.
From the quarter-finals onwards, the title was played in a knockout system . The winner moves on to the next round, the losers played further crossover and placement games. The winner of the final was the winner of the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup.
