The Ismaning brothers are a women's beach handball team from Ismaning founded in 2014 and are among the top German teams and pioneers of the sport. With three German championship titles in 2014, 2016 and 2017, they are currently considered the most successful female beach handball team in Germany and are among the top 5 in Europe.
history
The brothers came into being in spring 2014. The then A youth Bundesliga team of TSV Ismaning and its coaching team were looking for a way to continue playing with the same line-up after the indoor season was over. Beach handball was perfect for this and they played two tournaments in the summer of 2014.
A wildcard from the German Handball Federation enabled the brothers to take part in the 2014 German Beach Handball Championship in Wildeshausen. The team did not lose a game there and won the all-Bavarian final against the Caipiranhas Erlangen and won the German women's beach handball championship.
In 2014, Germany took part in the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup for the first time and finished with fourth place. Since then, the brothers have been playing national and international beach handball competitions. Some players have been nominated for the national team several times and have since been promoting the sport of beach handball in the media. Trainer Alexander Novakovic was appointed national beach handball trainer by the German Handball Federation in February 2015. Trainer Manfred Königsmann was a trainer at the state beach handball base in Bavaria in 2017 and 2018.
Naming
The origin of the team name Brothers Ismaning is unclear. In an interview with the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung it was explained that funny names are often used as a gag at open-air tournaments.

Youth work and advertising
The brothers are involved in beach handball youth work for the southern region of Bavaria. A beach handball base enables talented young people to train under the guidance of players and the team's coaches. Holiday camps - so-called Brothers Beach Camps - take place during the Whitsun and summer holidays. The brothers also offer beach training for the youngsters from the TSV Ismaning home club. With appearances on television, on the radio and in social media, the team tries to give the sport of beach handball more presence.
