The Ismaning Gymnastics and Sports Club (TSV Ismaning eV) is a popular and competitive sports club from Ismaning . With 1,800 members, it is the largest association in the municipality in the north of Munich.
history
TSV Ismaning was founded on August 25, 1928. On March 12, 1929, the Ismaning community provided TSV with the "Hain" as a sports field, the founding of the handball department followed in 1930. On November 1, 1936, the TSV had to leave its youth home in the "Hain" to the Hitler Youth and stood before the end.
After the war in 1945, the club was re-established and in 1947 the youth handball team was added. A table tennis department was founded on October 1st, 1948, and the women's handball department in 1949. July 11, 1953 was marked by the takeover of the Hainhalle by TSV Ismaning. At that time there were handball, fistball and table tennis departments. The gymnastics and wrestling departments were rebuilt. Emil Kurz, a supporter of the association, died on April 4, 1967. The membership was 267. In 1970 the curlingers were accepted into the club. The number of members at that time was 770.
In 1971 the square was modernized. The sports field in the grove was paved and floodlit. In 1973 a volleyball and swimming department was established. The association had 836 members. The winter sports department was established in 1975 and the first ski courses were held. The swimming community with "Solidarity" was born. The number of members exceeded 1000. In 1978 the basketball department was established. The number of members rose to 1245. In 1979 the club was expanded to include the athletics department and the secondary school gymnasium was completed. In 1981 the swimmers joined the "Soli". The TSV office in the Hainturnhalle was opened. In 1988 the association had 1690 members. The Osterfeldhalle was inaugurated on November 26, 1994. In 1995 the badminton department was founded.
On September 18, 1997, the foundation stone was laid in the new sports park on Grünstleckstrasse under the management of Lothar Pögl. On June 12, 1999, the new sports park was inaugurated, which TSV Ismaning, FC Ismaning and TC Ismaning share. In 2000, the sports park and the new grove hall were opened.
The longest basketball game in the world with 33 hours non-stop secured TSV Ismaning entry in the Guinness Book of Records on December 9, 2000 .
In 2003 the association had 1,810 members in the sports of gymnastics, handball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, winter sports ("Snow & Fun"), athletics and stick shooting. In 2005 a combat group was founded, the martial arts department "Tang-So-Do Ismaning - THE SCORPIONS (R)". The handball players received the Otto Hezner Youth Prize from the Bavarian Handball Association for their excellent work with women in youth and their pioneering position in beach handball. In 2007, the first plans to expand the sports park on Gruenckstraße began. A sports hall for the TSV was the most important expansion project there. The winter sports department became an active ski school in the German Ski Association (DSV) in 2009 . In 2012 the handball department was awarded the seal of approval for excellent youth work by the German Handball Federation (DHB). In 2012, the handball A-girls managed direct qualification for the newly founded Bundesliga. In September 2013 the office of the handball department was opened in the grove.
Also in 2014, the newly elected Ismaning municipal council unanimously made the decision for a new ball sports hall at the sports park, under the supervision of the TSV. Construction should start in 2018. A TSV hall commission was set up for this purpose.

Handball
The club is best known for its handball department, whose 1st teams play in the Bavarian League for women and men, and most recently for several years in the 3rd Bundesliga. Throughout Bavaria, the "Isis" are the only club with women and men in the Bavarian League under one umbrella. The female A-youth was placed in the newly founded youth league by the German Handball Association in 2013 , was immediately placed in the top 16 in Germany and qualified again for the Bundesliga season in 2014.
The youth work of the handball department was awarded the Otto Hezner Youth Prize by the Bavarian Handball Association in 2005 as the best youth work in Bavaria . In 2012 the "Isis" received the seal of approval from the German Handball Federation for excellent youth work. The youth teams have since achieved multiple Bavarian and South German championships. In 2014, the Bavarian Handball Association awarded the club youth prize to TSV Ismaning for the best youth work in Bavaria.
In Bavaria, the handball department is also a pioneer in beach handball . Beach events have been taking place at the sports park in Ismaning every year since 1999, including the Bavarian Beach Championships for senior citizens and youth. In 2014 the women's team "Isis" became German champions in beach handball. become. The team of Manfred Königsmann and Alexander Novakovic achieved the participation in an official European championship for the first time in the club's history, which ended in 4th place in Gran Canaria in November 2014. In 2016 & 2017 the team was again German champions in beach handball.
volleyball
The volleyball department was founded in 1973. However, the youth work only started in 2012 with the junior women U20 team (Cobras II). Since 2013, the volleyball department has also been playing with a women's I team (Cobras I).
athletics
The athletics department has been organizing one of the largest Bavarian winter running series with over 1500 participants for years and has been working with the LAG Mittlere Isar since 2006.
