Nikolaus Georg Gustav von Rauch (born July 6, 1851 in Berlin , † July 28, 1904 in Stolp ) was a Prussian colonel .

Life

Nikolaus von Rauch was the son of the Prussian cavalry general Gustav Waldemar von Rauch and his Russian wife Polyxena, née von Steritsch (1823-1859), grandson of the Prussian war minister , infantry general and honorary citizen of Berlin Gustav von Rauch and great-grandson of the Prussian major general Bonaventure by Rauch .

Military background

In 1870, Rauch joined the Westphalian Uhlan Regiment No. 5 of the Prussian Army in Düsseldorf as a portepeefähnrich . During the war against France he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class and promoted to second lieutenant. Nikolaus von Rauch married Maria von Bodelschwingh on January 3, 1883 in Detmold (* December 9, 1860 in Düsseldorf; † June 13, 1944 in Lederose near Striegau / Silesia). She was the daughter of the Prussian Rittmeister a. D. and District Administrator Ernst von Bodelschwingh and his wife Marie geb. Freiin von Bodelschwingh-Plettenberg, granddaughter of the Prussian finance minister Carl von Bodelschwingh and niece of Pastor Friedrich von Bodelschwingh , the founder of the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel .

The married couple Nikolaus and Maria von Rauch had six children:

Nikolaus and Maria von Rauch's daughter Erika is buried in the mausoleum of the Schlutius family on the edge of Karower Park. The mausoleum was created by Wilhelm Wandschneider and is being restored.
