The Norwegian Elopak Group with its Oslo-based parent company Elopak AS is a manufacturer of beverage cartons that operates in several countries . The German subsidiary is the Mannheim- based Elopak GmbH .

Elopak group

The company was founded in 1967 and today produces beverage cartons with around 2,800 employees at 11 locations in different countries.

ELOPAK originally stood for "European License of PURE PAK", a company in Oslo , Norway , which in 1957 introduced the "PURE PAK" packaging system (gable top carton) known in the USA to the European market. The Elopak Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of packaging systems for liquid and pasty foods. The system not only includes the packaging blanks, but also the associated filling machines and screw caps.

According to its own information, Elopak is represented in 40 countries and thus serves around 80 markets worldwide.

Elopak in Germany

The Elopak GmbH began in 1976 to produce packages at the German site in Speyer. There are also locations in Mönchengladbach and Paderborn .

In July 2020, Elopak GmbH moved from the existing location in Speyer to Mannheim. Production was relocated abroad.

Products

The packaging wall of Elopak beverage cartons can consist of the following composite materials:

  • PE (manufacturer name: PE-BOARD) for chilled products
  • Aluminum (Aluminum-BOARD) for aseptic and hot-filled products with a long shelf life
  • EVOH (EVOH-BOARD) Alternative for aluminum with a long shelf life
