ELO was a magazine published by Franzis Verlag from 1975 with the focus on hobby electronics .

The monthly magazine published building instructions for simple to medium-complex circuits . The building instructions contained printed circuit board layouts so that the circuits could be recreated. The magazine was supplemented by specialist articles that led through the world of electronics. The aim of the magazine was to introduce young people to electronics and to motivate them for an electronic profession.

In the 1980s she made a name for herself with the Moppel do-it-yourself project.

ELO was later taken over by the publishing house Gruner + Jahr and offered as an insert in the PM magazine for subscribers. In 1989 this supplement was discontinued.

Since 2008, Franzis-Verlag has been operating a portal under the name ELO-Magazin for the sale of experiment kits and literature on the subject of hobby electronics.
