The EMAG Zerbst Maschinenfabrik GmbH is a German machine tool building company and belongs to since 1994 EMAG group.

Within EMAG, EMAG Zerbst Maschinenfabrik GmbH is the central production location for both standard machines and customer-specific machines and delivers to end customers (for standard machines) as well as to EMAG technology companies. The company known under the current name EMAG Zerbst Maschinenfabrik GmbH emerged from the Franz Braun machine tool factory and iron foundry founded in 1867 , which in 1870 delivered the first lathe with a 12 meter long bed to the Henschel company in Kassel.

Between 1927 and 1945 the company built the medium-sized machines of the “ VDF standard lathe ”, a complete series of machines that was developed together with three other companies based in Göppingen , Hanover and Hamburg .

From 1950 to 1994 mainly large and facing lathes with a faceplate diameter of up to 12,000 mm and with a correspondingly long planning horizon of several years were manufactured.

In August 1994, the WEMA machine tool factory in Zerbst was taken over by the EMAG group to expand the production capacities and expanded into a central and important production location. To this end, the company in Zerbst was completely restructured.

New jobs have been created since EMAG took over WEMA machine tool factory Zerbst. In the beginning 160 employees were employed, today there are more than 500 employees on the company premises, in addition 10 to 12 apprentices per year are trained.

In 1995 two additional halls were built for this purpose, two more with 2500 m² each followed in 2000 and another hall in 2004. This means that eight halls with a production area of ​​36,000 m² are now available.

Company premises

In the middle of 1997, the company Blechverarbeitung & Montage Zerbst GmbH (formerly: SIRO - Blechverarbeitung & -lackierung GmbH) with seven employees was established on the site , which now has more than 240 employees in sheet metal construction for the manufacture of the basic body, the energy containers and the complete and functional Manufactures housings for machines.

In addition, the company KmB Technologie Gesellschaft für rational production mbH was created with currently approx. 200 employees as a supplier for the automotive industry.
