Johan Theorin (born September 3, 1963 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish journalist and author .

Literary work

Theorin has published short stories , anthologies and novels . Theorin's crime novels are characterized by mythological elements and are bestsellers in his Swedish homeland.

Even with his first crime novel Öland, which was awarded in Sweden as the best crime debut of the year, he achieved international success: the book has been translated into over twenty languages. Like all the novels by his so-called “Seasons Quartet”, it is set on the island of Öland . Johan Theorin's family has lived there for generations, he himself is a regular visitor to the island and knows the cultural heritage, its legends and myths.

Fog storm takes place in the harsh Öland winter. The book received the award for the best detective novel of the year in Sweden and received the English Dagger Award for the best international detective novel. The Seasons Quartet was produced in the 2010s as a radio play with a translation by Kerstin Schöps and an adaptation by Andrea Czesienski for Deutschlandradio Kultur .
