The ESA - European Schools for Higher Education in Administration and Management is an international educational network . ESA was founded in 1964 and is based in Vienna .

It unites over 40 European educational institutions that are dedicated to the development and implementation of future-oriented, business-oriented educational programs in the professional and academic sectors.

The ESA is a non-profit organization .

History of the ESA

The ESA was founded:

  • 1964 in Geneva
  • as an international association of private educational institutions
  • for training in the international secretarial and assistance area with the entrance requirement of university entrance qualification .

When it was founded, ESA was called ESA - European Secretaries Academy .

The diploma of the European Secretary - ESA was awarded as the first international degree .

Since then, ESA has continuously developed transnational curricula and educational standards for various training programs. It focuses on imparting business-related, foreign-language and personality-building skills.

At the beginning of the 1980s, a module system was introduced and the uniform European examination regulations that had existed since the beginning, compliance with which is ensured by international examination bodies, were further developed.

In the following, ESA introduced a points system for performance evaluation in order to enable international comparability of ESA degrees. In the course of the Bologna process, it was aligned with the European Credit Transfer System .

In 1998 the ESA - European Secretaries Academy was renamed ESA - European Schools for Higher Education in Administration and Management , in order to take into account the changed and broader training content as a result of the constantly changing European labor market.

As part of the Bologna reform , ESA schools, in cooperation with their international partners, are offering the possibility of an internationally recognized bachelor's degree.
