E 600 (weather radar)

The E 600 is a tactical weather radar from the American manufacturer EWR Weather Radar Systems .

As a tactical weapon system for the US military, the E 600 II is currently the most mobile weather radar on the market. The antenna unit with the phased array antenna consists of a modified on-board radar, which is mounted in a small radome on a mast. The device is operated and the radar data is evaluated using a commercially available personal computer . The very compact device was designed to be quickly relocatable, it is easy to transport and can be set up in its new location within 30 minutes.

The short-range weather radar provides weather information in four graduated categories of reflectivity

  • light: 20 ... 30 dBZ,
  • moderate: 30 ... 40 dBZ,
  • heavy: 40… 50 dBZ,
  • severe: ≥50 dBZ

up to a distance of about 80 km.
