The Ealey Glacier is a glacier on the island of Heard in the Indian Ocean . It flows from Big Ben in a north-easterly direction to the coast, which it reaches in the form of ice cliffs between Melbourne Bluff and the North Barrier .
The glacier is named after the biologist E. H. M. Ealey, who crossed it in 1949 during a campaign of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions on an exploratory march to Spit Point .
