Earl Beatty
Earl Beatty is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created for Admiral David Beatty on September 27, 1919 . This was in the First World War, first the British battle cruiser in the battles at Helgoland (1914) and on the Dogger Bank (1915) and in the Battle of Jutland commanded (1916). He later became the commanding officer of the Grand Fleet .
Subordinate title
Along with the dignity of Earl, Beatty were given the subordinate titles Viscount Borodale , of Wexford in the County of Wexford , and Baron Beatty , of the North Sea and of Brooksby in the County of Leicester . Both titles also belong to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The former title is used as a courtesy title by the Earl's Heir Apparent .
