The Early Islands are a group of small islands off the Walgreen coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . They are located immediately west of the Cosgrove Ice Shelf in the southeastern section of Ferrero Bay .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1970 after the American biologist Tommy Joe Early of Ohio State University , who between 1968 and 1969 worked in Ellsworthland.
