East Budd Island is one of two large islands (the other is West Budd Island ) off the Mawson Coast of Mac Robertson Land, East Antarctica . In Holme Bay , it is at the northern end of the Flat Islands group .

Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . They named them as Flatøynålane (Norwegian for flat island needles ). In contrast, the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named it in 1960 after Grahame Murray Budd (* 1930), a doctor on Mawson's ward in 1959.
