Ebba Grön was a music group from the Stockholm suburb of Rågsved , which developed out of the punk movement and was founded in 1977.
The band played rock music with elements of punk rock and progressive rock and only Swedish lyrics with political content. They are the most commercially successful punk rock band from Sweden .
history
The band Ebba Grön was founded in 1977 by Thåström, Eriksson and Ljungstedt during a party in a practice room. The name alludes to the police code for the arrest of the German terrorist Norbert Kröcher , who planned the kidnapping of the Swedish politician Anna-Greta Leijon .
Singer Joakim Thåström quickly became the front figure of Ebba Grön. The first own single, Antirock , was released on April 21, 1978. The band bought the entire edition of 500 copies and distributed them among friends and in the scene. In 1979 the first album came out, We're Only in It for the Drugs . In 1982 the third and most successful album Ebba Grön came out, with the hits 800 Grader , which evokes the outbreak of nuclear war, and The Wall . The following year the band broke up. Bassist Fyodor was fed up with fame, while the rest of the band formed the band Imperiet as a follow-up project .
