Eberhard Plein

Eberhard Plein (born February 28, 1924 - † November 8, 2014 in Celle ) was a German geologist.

Plein studied geology at the University of Göttingen , with a diploma and doctorate in 1952 ( The construction of the Lower Hessian mountainous region in the Großalmerode area ). He then worked at the Hessian State Office for Soil Research (where he carried out geomagnetic measurements on the basalt of the Hirschberg near Großalmerode).

Plein was chief geologist at the Brigitta and Elwerath union (BEB) in Hanover. He was also an honorary professor at the University of Heidelberg .

Among other things, he dealt with the stratigraphy of the Rotliegend in northern Germany.

In 1989 he received the Hans Stille Medal .
