Eberhard Reschke

Eberhard Reschke (born January 18, 1925 in Berlin ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Reschke attended the Friedenau grammar school from 1935 to 1943 . He then had to do military service and became blind from a wound in one eye. In 1946 he was able to continue his school education and take the Abitur. From the summer semester of 1947, he first studied Protestant theology, philosophy and classical philologist at the Church University of Berlin-Zehlendorf . Since the winter semester 1948/49 he studied at the Free University of Berlin , since the summer semester 1950 the subject Classical Archeology. On January 25, 1963 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the Roman sarcophagi of the late 3rd century AD under Friedrich Wilhelm Goethert . In 1963/64 he received half a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . From 1970 until his retirement in 1990 he was curator of the collection of antiques at the University of Erlangen , where he also received his habilitation in 1970. Martin Boss was his successor as curator .
