Eberhard Schock (born January 16, 1939 in Straussfurt , Thuringia ) is a German university professor of mathematics .

He completed his studies in Bonn and Hamburg in 1963 with a diploma. In 1966 the doctorate followed, in 1970 the habilitation. He has been a professor at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern since 1974 and head of the applied analysis and functional analysis group. The main research areas in the field of functional analysis include nuclear spaces and operator ideals.

The main research areas in the field of applied analysis include approximation theory, discretization methods, incorrectly posed problems, integral equations, iteration methods and the complexity theory of algorithms.

Three of his 16 doctoral students are professors at German universities ( Hermann König , Kiel; Lutz Weis, Karlsruhe; Michael Wiegner, Aachen).
