Eberhard Schilken

Eberhard Schilken (born February 6, 1945 in Seligenstadt ) is a German lawyer and former professor.

Life

After graduating from Görres-Gymnasium in Koblenz in 1964, Schilken studied law at the University of Bonn until 1968 , where he passed his first state examination in 1969. In his subsequent traineeship in the district of the OLG Cologne , he also worked as a research assistant at the University of Bonn under Hans Friedhelm Gaul . After his second state examination in 1973, he worked as a research assistant at the institute for civil procedural law there until his habilitation in July 1981. In 1975 he also received his doctorate there. jur.

In the semester after his habilitation, Schilken took over a professorship at the University of Cologne . However, this activity was short-lived; As early as the summer semester of 1982 he moved to the University of Osnabrück , where he was promoted to director of the local institute for procedural law and comparative proceedings until 1993 and was dean of the law faculty in 1991. In the 1993/94 winter semester, Schilken accepted a call from his alma mater in Bonn, where he was director of the Institute for Civil Procedure Law until his retirement in 2010. In 1997 he was dean of the law and political science faculty there. Even after his retirement, Schilken continues to research his main areas of work, civil law, judicial constitutional law, civil procedural law, enforcement law and bankruptcy law. He also teaches at the Management Academy of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.

Eberhard Schilken is married and has two daughters (born in 1972 and 1975).
