Eberhard Voss

Eberhard Voss (born April 2, 1929 , † September 25, 2011 in Raben Steinfeld ) was a German historian. From 1973 to 1991 he headed the Schwerin State Archives .

Life

Eberhard Voss studied history and in 1964 at the University of Rostock with a dissertation on Revolutionary events and problems of the class struggle between peasants and landowners in 1921 to 1923 in Germany to Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1973 he was appointed director of the Schwerin State Archives to succeed Franz Höppner . Like his predecessor, he was considered a political archive manager , a non-specialist, so to speak, as a “political director”.

In 1988 he received his doctorate B to a Doctor of Science (Dr. sc.) At the University of Rostock with a thesis on the history of hunting in the GDR 1945-1961 .

After the reunification he was replaced as director on June 30, 1991; on September 30, 1991, he left the service. Peter-Joachim Rakow was acting director until 1994 .

In the following years he published numerous essays and writings, in particular on the forest and hunting history of Mecklenburg. From 1992 to 2011 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jost Reinhold Foundation .
