Life

Reinhold was born on March 28, 1929 as the son of a teacher in Groß Flotow , Mecklenburg , where he spent the first years of his life. At the age of ten he switched to the humanistic grammar school in Neubrandenburg . Reinhold passed his Abitur in 1948 at the Carolinum grammar school in Neustrelitz . He then received training at the Speck Forestry Office , but did not take up the job of a forester. In 1962 he founded his own company there that developed and sold auto parts and expanded them into an internationally active group of companies. After the fall of the Wall in 1989 , he sold the thriving automotive supply chain and returned to his home country. In 1992 he founded the Jost Reinhold Foundation, whose capital now amounts to around twelve million euros (as of 2010). Since then, he has supported the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the foundation's assets in around 650 social and cultural projects, including for example the district music school in Waren and the Müritzeum . On August 30, 2017, the new 620 m long and between 18 and 21 m high and barrier-free (elevator) treetop path was opened above the crowns of the Ivenack oaks in the presence of Jost Reinhold. Although supported by the EU, this path could not have emerged without it. The entrepreneur Jost Reinhold has lived in Switzerland since 1977 and is one of the largest patrons in the Mecklenburg Lake District.
