Collina d'Oro is a municipality in the Paradiso district , in the Lugano district in the Swiss canton of Ticino .

The municipality was created on April 4, 2004 from the merger of the previously independent districts of Agra , Gentilino and Montagnola . On April 1, 2012, the previously independent Carabietta was also incorporated.

economy
The sanatorium for tuberculosis patients , known as the German House and operated from 1913 to 1969, is located in Agra . Montagnola is a popular travel destination for tourists, partly because Hermann Hesse lived here. Montagnola is also home to a 25-house boarding school run by The American Schools in Switzerland.
