Eberhard Wilkening

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eberhard Wilkening , also Everd Wilken , was a master builder of the so-called " Weser Renaissance " from the county of Schaumburg ( Lower Saxony ) .

Wilkening's life data have not survived. It is only known that he was a master craftsman in Hameln from 1582 to 1605 . In contrast to other master builders of his time (e.g. Jörg Unkair , Hermann Wulff ), he neither provided his buildings with his initials nor with a master's mark. His activity can so far only be proven for the construction of the Kerssenbrock Castle in Barntrup . Here it is mentioned in the building bills. For reasons of style criticism, other buildings in the Weser area are assigned to him, including Hämelschenburg Castle .
