Jörg Unkair , also called Master of Tübingen (* before 1500 in Lustnau near Tübingen , † 1553 in Detmold ) was a builder and sculptor .

As a young man he had helped build the Strasbourg Cathedral , Überlingen and Bebenhausen Monastery , later he created the earliest buildings in the form of the Renaissance in northern Germany , also known as the Weser Renaissance in this region . The architectural design of Jörg Unkair is characterized by the use of simple large geometric shapes with semicircular, so-called "Welschen" gables based on the example of Venetian Renaissance architecture, such as the Scuola Grande di San Marco , in combination with traditional late Gothic profile shapes and branch framing .
