Eberhard Winkler (born December 22, 1939 ) was a football player at SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt . There he played in 1962/63 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Eleven weeks after his 18th birthday, Winkler first appeared in the first men's team of SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt at the start of the 1958 football season. The team of the Central Saxon football center played after relegation in 1957 in the second-rate first GDR league .

In his first men's season, Winkler played 20 of the 26 point games in which he was initially called up in midfield and later as a striker. His first season in the men's division ended after a year with relegation to the third division, the SC Motor had been passed through to the 2nd GDR league within one season . There Winkler played predominantly in the attack and was one of the core eleven of the Karl Marx townspeople . They managed to return to the first GDR league immediately. Even in 1960 Winkler was able to maintain his place in the regular formation and, although still playing mainly in midfield, was one of the most dangerous players in SC Motor with five goals. Because of the changeover of the football season to the summer-spring rhythm, 39 point games were played in the first GDR league in 1961/62, the SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt was there after a successful fight to stay in the league. Winkler was part of the player base again, and with his 33 stakes he made a significant contribution to the fact that the Karl Marx townsfolk had made it to the GDR league by the end of the mammoth season. In his only first division season 1962/63 Winkler played 16 of 26 point games. While he was only absent twice in the first half of the season as a midfielder, he was only used sporadically in the second half of the season, now used as a striker, and was without a goal for the first time since 1958.

The match on the 24th match day between SC Empor Rostock and SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt (3-0) on April 7, 1963 was Winkler's last competitive game for SC Motor. Between 1958 and 1963 he had played 16 point games in the GDR Oberliga (without a goal) and 77 point games in the I. GDR League (9 goals) as well as numerous third division games with more than ten goals. Later he no longer appeared in the higher-class GDR football.
